Coffee was brought to Cuba by French Colonists escaping from the Haitian Revolution in 1791. The name HABANERA (literally “from La Habana”) comes from one of the most famous arias of the opera Carmen: <<L’amour est un oiseau rebelle (Love is a rebellious bird)>>.

In fact, this coffee and the character of the Opera share the same intense passion. This rich Arabica is known as Typica-Criolla and grows in the eastern part of the island, in the Sierra Maestra region, near the Gran Piedra, a gigantic rock registered in the Guinness Book as the third largest solid rock worldwide.
